FIRE PREVENTION IN OXFORD COUNTY
The dry spell of weather combined with the north-west winds experienced in the Oxford County recently had accentuated the fire danger in the county, particularly on the south side of the Eyre river, said the Oxford County Clerk (Mr I. O. Barr) yesterday. Cigarettes and matches were usually the worst offenders in fires, he said, and if the public would take every precaution with them, property in the district would be safeguarded. The public could assist the lire wardens by notifying them immediately they saw any signs indicating fire. In that way they would be helping to preserve valuable lands and forests in the district, added Mr Barr.
