Travel Restrictions Urged
The Wallsend Miners’ Union has protested to the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) against what members consider to be laxity by certain Government Departments in allowing people to travel, especially on the interisland services, during the infantile paralysis outbreak. The union asked that steps be taken immediately to stop persons from travelling until all danger from infection was over. It was stated at the meeting that travellers from the North Island were still travelling to the West Coast.
