WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
Burwood.— The Burwood Women’s Institute recently celebrated its ninth birthday with a party, at which were present representatives from the Canterbury Federation of Women’s ' Institutes, the North Canterbury Federation. Sumner, Bryndwr, and Women’s Institute Centre. A motion of sympathy was passed with all who were bereaved in Ballantyne’s fire. The president (Mrs Wilson) presented the institute cup. for most points in competitions, to Mrs Wells, and Mrs Liggins’s Cup, for most entries, to Mrs Cusack. Mesdames Powell, Cooper and Doig were the three guest entertainers. A parade of all nations was held, 14 members, each dressed in the national costume of a different nation, takipg part.
