DISMISSAL BY COUNCIL •’The Press’ Special Service HAMILTON, December 11. A motion proposed by the Mayor (Mr H. D. Caro) that the services cf the City Engineer (Mr J. R. Baird) be dispensed with as from January 1 next, and that he be granted leave of absence and three months’ salary in lieu of notice was carried unanimously by the newly-constituted Hamilton City Council at its first regular meeting. Cr. H. M. Hammond seconded the motion and said he supported a similar resolution four years ago and thought it was the right thing then. There were no other speakers and no dissentients.
