BOXING
CLARRIE GORDON GIVEN NEW LICENCE (PA) AUCKLAND, December 10. The Auckland professional welterweight boxer, Clarrie Gordon, who was deprived of his licence to box in New Zealand three years ago after an inquiry into a bout with the present light-weight champion, Jim Griffin, of Wellington, has been granted a new licence. Gordon, who fought with great success in Australia last year, intends to challenge lan Cruickshank, of Dunedin, for the welter-weight title. He will also seek a bout with the American negro, Willie Jones.
