BULK SHIPMENT OF CEMENT
SPECIAL SHIP NEEDED FOR TRADE IP.A.) WELLINGTON, December 10. The only solution to the problem of the delivery of cement to the main market from the Golden Bay works— Wellington—was bulk shipment, the chairman of directors of the Golden Bay Cement Company (Mr J. M. A. Hott) said at the annual meeting of shareholders to-day. After receiving reports from overseas it had been decided that bulk shipment, which would involve pumping cement into a ship at Tarakohe and out at Wellington, was what was required. This would involve the construction of a specially-equipped ship, and substantial additional equipment at Tarakohe and Wellington. The board had decided to proceed with the plan, and it was hoped before long to place orders for plant and buildings.
