VISITS TO LINCOLN COLLEGE
' VALUE OF SERVICE MENTIONED This was a demonstration of the wide influence exerted by Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, said Mr W. C. Colee when the Board of Governors received a return of extracurricula activities of the college from the director (Professor E. R. Hudson) yesterday morning. Mr M. E. Lyons said that this service was often overlooked when the work of the college was assessed. No matter how efficiently similar work could be done in the schools, it could not compare with the value of children’s visits to the college’s institutions. said Mr J. E. Strachan. The following attendances for short courses in November and December (in addition to 1400 who attended main field days) were reported:—Christchurch Girls’ High School, 220; teacher trainees, 8; Waitaki Boys’ High School. 25; Rangiora High School, 20; Shirley Garden Club, 40: Mosgiel District High School and South Otago High School, 22; Canterbury post-primary schools, 250; North Otago farmers, 35; South Island staffs of Wright, Stephenson and Co.. 51.
The refresher course for teachers of agriculture to be held in January has resulted in 34 applications, the majority being from the North Island.
