£36 RAISED
BOWLING CLUB’S PARTY
At a well-arranged and enjoyable bowling tournament, organised by the Cashmere Bowling Club and held at its green yesterday, the sum of £36 was raised for the sanatorium service committee, provides small comforts for patients in the Cashmere Sanatorium. The president of the club (Mr James Carter), in welcoming the players, mentioned that many visitors from other clubs, approving of the object of the match, were taking part in the games, and some donations had been received from individuals and organisations. He thanked Mr C. Dunn for his generosity in providing delicacies for afternoon tea, particularly the “Forfar bradies,” which are a specialty made by him for the club’s party every year. Wives of the bowlers served tea.
Miss M. Enright, for the Sanatorium Service Society, thanked Mr Carter and members of the club for their continued interest in the patients at the sanatorium. She explained how the money will be spent, and recalled that the club had held a gathering in aid of the funds of the committee every year for the last W years. The sum of £36 realised yesterday was a record amount raised so far at these gatherings.
