MISSION REPORTS TO CONGRESS (Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Nov. 18. The Soviet was “feverishly preparing for war,” said Mr Everett Dirksen (Republican. Illinois) in the House of Representatives to-day. The United States dare not abandon Europe to Communism because it would imperil Western civilisation. Mr Dirksen was reporting as chairman of the special joint Congressional committee which visited 22 European countries last summer.
