GENEVA TRADE AGREEMENT

U.S. WOOLGROWERS PROTEST (R ec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Nov. 18 Members of Congress reacted quickly and generally unfavourably, to-day to the announcement of the terms of the trade and tariff cutting agreements signed by the United States with 22 other countries at Geneva.

Representatives from the woolgrowing states registered the most concerted protest.

Mr .Frank Barrett (Republican, Wyoming) said: “Australia demanded the scalp of the American woolgrower and got it.” Senator Hilton Young (Republican, North Dakota) said that the sheep industry might be wiped out.
