NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL SITE
0 LAND TAKEN NEAR ILAM ROAD A site for a new primary school in Dam road has been chosen, and the Canterbury Education Board has announced its intention to take three pieces of land in the area for the purEose under the provisions of the Pubc Works Act. The main block is an area of six acres 32 perches off Ilam ro®d. Two smaller sections are 39.9 perches and one rood 18 perches in size. The site is near Kirkwood avenue and Pasadena street Children of the. district at present attend the Kirkwood avenue school, a temporary structure which has been open since early this year. At first parents protested at the transfer of children from the Fendalton, Wharenui, and Riccarton Schools to Kirkwood avenue (a measure to relieve congestion); but a recent meeting of the Education Board received reports that parents were now eager to cooperate in establishing a, school in the area. Many new houses are being erected in that quarter of the city. It is not yet known when building will be started.
