The New Zealand Minister in Moscow (Mr C. W. Boswell), who. with Mrs Boswell and Mrs P. Forrest, sister of Mrs Boswell, has been the guest of the New Zealand High Commissioner to Britain (Mr W. J. Jordan) for the last three weeks, will sail for New Zealand by the Waiwera to-day. Mr Boswell expects to spend four to five months in the Dominion before returning to Moscow. —Special correspondent N.Z.P.A., London, October 29.
A notable record of service has been completed by the retirement of Mr A. S. Elworthy from the Waimate County Council, of v.iiich he has been a member for about half a century. At the age of 25, Mr Elworthy succeeded his father bn the council in 1899, and has represented the ratepayers of Upper Pareora riding for 48 years, except for intervals when he absent overseas. Paying tribute to Mr Elworthy’s services as a councillor, the chairman (Mr J. Bitchener) said at the October meeting of the council that he had never been defeated in a riding election. The resignation of Mr J. O. McGillivray (secretary for 25 years) was accepted with regret’ at the annual meeting of the Victory Park Board last evening. Many compliments were paid to Mr McGillivray for his services and it was agreed to make him a life member.
The Rev. L. M. Rogers has resigned from the position of editor-manager of the “Outlook,” the official organ of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. The General Assembly, meeting in Christchurch yesterday, decided to set up a special committee to determine the future of the “Outlook.”
