Two Fires Yesterday.—The Christ-
church Fire Brigade received two calls to fires in the city area yesterday. The first was a chimney fire about 4 p.m. on premises occupied by Margaret Gant, at 234 Sumner road. There, was no damage. The second occurred about 6.15 p.m. when fire broke out in the offices of the district traffic manager, New Zealand Railways, in Moorhouse avenue. Damage was done to walls, the ceiling, and the contents (mostly stationery), on the ground floor.
