HEALTH STAMP CAMPAIGN
SALES TO PUBLIC BY POSTMEN
Postmen in the Christchurch area are assisting the health stamp campaign by direct sales of stamps to the public. Since October 1 every postman has carried on his round envelopes containing four complete sets of health stamps valued at Is 6d, and these are being sold to householders. Already between £3OO and £4OO worth of stamps have been sold in this manner. If householders require bigger lots of the stamps, they may lodge orders with their postmen, who will deliver them on 'the following day. With the addition of bulk sales of stamps, the amount raised by the postmen is now about £1135. The postmen will continue their drive until October 14. The chief postmaster - (Mr D. R. Thomson) yesterday expressed his appreciation of the postmen’s action. “They are keenly interested in the health stamp campaign,” he said, “and are taking an interest in the welfare of the community by this effort, which is worthy of the public’s best support.” A total of 35,800 first day health stamp covers were posted this year in Christchurch and at the “Glenelg” Health Camp—approximately the same number as last year.
