NO ORCHESTRA WITH BALLET
MUSICIANS’ UNION BLAMED
COMPLAINT FROM MR BOROVANSKY
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 7. “Unionism may be a good thing but when it interferes with art it is not fulfilling its purpose,” said -Mr E. Borovansky, who, with his corps de ballet, arrived at Wellington on the Wahine to-day. He said action by the New Zealand Musicians* Union made it impossible to bring an orchestra with the company. “Now that the war’has ended we are performing some of the larger and more classical ballets,” he said. “For these a good musical accompaniment is essential, and with most of your leading musicians playing for the National Symphony Orchestra, I am anxious about the quality of the artists we shall be able to obtain. I wished to bring at least 10 musicians with me, but was allowed only one violinist and one pianist.**
