AUSTRALIANS AND INDIANS
INCIDENTS IN JAI { AN DESCRIBED
(Rec. 7 p.m.) BRISBANE, Oct. 6. Australian occupation troops who returned to Brisbane from Japan said that Australian and Indian soldiers had fought with one another near Hiroshima. The Australians claimed that in the fighting three Indians were killed and one injured. They said that Australians were injured. “A big rift developed between the Indian and British forces after India was granted independence on August, 15,’’ said one Australian. “The Indians became cheeky and -arrogant towards the British forces. About two months ago groups of Indians molested an engineer guard at Hiroshima and gathered outside the camp gates. Determined to disperse them, an Australian engineer fired a rifle shot into the air. The Indians took to the hills nearby .ano fired down on the Australians. Order was not restored until three Indians were killed and one was wounded.” The troops said that other clashes between Australians and Indians occurred at a place 25 miles from Hiroshima.
