DARK ARROW WINS SECOND DOUBLE From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, October 4. A feature of the Reefton Jockey Club’s meeting was the number of dual successes of horses, six accounting for 14 of the 21 events, five of them being two division races. Dark Arrow won a double on each day of the meeting, Goldina won a double on the opening day, and Pampero, a double to-day, and Pimpernel, John o’ London, and Strathconan won on both days of the meeting. There was only a fair attendance in spite of tlie bright sunny weather. The track was fast and there was keen racing with several good finishes. The four successive victories of the Riccarton hack, Dark Arrow, which is Greymouth-owned, earned a great ovation as he returned to scale after his final success, which was accomplished with the greatest of ease under the steadier of lOst. The principal event was won in convincing style by the Westport owned and trained Velvet Slipper, which outstayed the field to win going away. C. Stokes, with five winning rides, was the most successful horseman at the meeting, followed by D. J. Thistoll and K. Hickey, with three wins. The success of West Coast owned and trained candidates was also a featurb of the meeting. The totalisator handled £ 10,982 10s for the day, as against £ 12,553 on the second day in December last year, a decrease of £lB3O 10s.
