FOOD PARCELS FOR BRITAIN

UNWANTED ITEMS BEING INCLUDED (P.A.) AUCKLAND. October 5. Although persons he had seen had no complaints to make about the foqd parcels they received from New Zealand. it was evident that many of the senders were still including in their parcels foodstuffs that were not wanted, said Mr H. J. Butcher, of Epsom, when he arrived at Auckland by Tasman flying-boat after a six months’ visit to Britain. Mr Butcher' pointed out that fats and meats were the main items the British people needed. They did not want such foods as peas in tomato sauce, tomato juice, or custard powders. Dripping was greatly in damand. said Mr Butcher, and milk powder was a godsend. It was also a treat for any person in England to receive tinned steak and kidney puddings and lamb and green peas. Any type of soap was greatly welcomed.
