NEW COMMANDER OF W.A.A.C.
MISS R. P. R. MONTGOMERY
Second-Subaltern R. P. R. Montgomery will succeed Senior Commander E. Gray, who will retire shortly, in the command of the Women’s Arm? Auxiliary Corps in the Southern Military District. Miss Montgomery was commissioned on August 1 of this year before becoming the W.A.A.C. staff officer for the district. After a period of service in New Zealand beginning in 1943, she sailed with the 14th Reinforcements to Egypt, where she was stationed at Maadi. In March, 1946, she returned to New Zealand and worked in the medical archives section at Army Headquarters.
Of the 1400 girls who enlisted in the W.A.A.C. in the Southern Military District, only a few remain, mostly engaged in records work at headquarters.
