FATAL FALL DOWN STAIRS
From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, October 1. After leaving the office of the Land and Income Tax Department in Mackay street. Greymouth, late this afternoon, William McNeill, aged 69. widower, of Bright street. Cobden, fell heavily down the stairs. He was found dead half way down the stairs. As he had not been attended by a doctor for some time a post-mortem examination was ordered when an inquest was opened this evening. The inquest was adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been given.
Mr McNeill came to New Zealand from Scotland 16 years ago and had worked in the Liverpool mine until two years ago. He is survived by two sons and three daughters: also one brother. Mr Thomas McNeill, of Cobden.
