SUBSIDY ON MANURE
Sir, —Will somebody with some authority please settle an argument about whether fertiliser ordered and not delivered before the subsidy came off should be charged the old price or the new price of £lO 16s? —Yours, etc, SMALL FARMER. September 22, 1947 [“Only in any case where the manure for dispatch after September 14, 1947, is in* fulfilment of an order placed by due date (i.e.j March 15, 1947) against the 1946-47 ration will the farmer receive his supply at the old rate from the manufacturing works,’’ Mr R. B. Tennent (act-ing-director-general of the Department of-Agriculture, Wellington), in reply to This letter. All other superphosphate orders (i.e., against 1947-48 ration) for dispatch after September 14, 1947, are subject to price order No. 760 (superphosphate). This price order was published in the New Zealand Gazette (No. 54) of September. 12, 1947, and prescribes that superphosphate dispatched by the manufacturers in the South Island after September 14, 1947, shall be invoiced at £lO 13s a ton if in jute bags and at £lO Is a ton if in paper bags. These prices are net to farmers on trucks with mileage from free delivery points.]
