SCHOOL ROLL OF HONOUR
UNVEILING CEREMONY AT LINWOOD An unusual roll of honour board was unveiled by the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) in the Linwood Avenue School last evening. The roll of honour bore the names of more than 100 •former pupils of the school, both men and women, who served in the armed forces during the Second World Wars and photographs of those who lost their lives were set into the board. The roll was presented to the school by Mr H. B. Kay. During the evening speeches were made by the chairman of the school committee (Mr G. R. Nixon), a representative of the Canterbury Educar tion Board (Mr S. J. Irwin), the president of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association (Mr E. Orchard), and the headmaster (Mr D. T. McCormick)! Buglers of the Christchurch West High School sounded “Last Post* and "Reveille.”
