PLASTIC SURGEON FOR BURWOOD
SENIOR AND JUNIOR OFFICERS
PART-TIME POSITIONS TO BE ADVERTISED
Applications for a part-time senior and a part-time junior plastic surgeon for the plastic surgical unit at the Eurwood Hospital will be called by the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The board, at a special meeting yesterday, decided this after a discussion in committee which lasted for almost one hour and a half.
Conditions of employment for the two officers have been referred to the hospital and finance committees of the board for a report to the next meeting. The successful applicants will be required to start work when the present medical officer in charge of the unit (Dr. .W. M. Manchester) resigns on December 10 to go overseas for postgraduate work. Last week, the board, in committee, considered four applications for a position as full-time plastic surgeon at the unit. It was ttyen decided that the medical staff executive and the medical superintendent (Dr. A. D. Nelson) should be asked to report on the applications. and on the views of Dr. L. C. L. Averill, a member of the board, about future staffing of ’ the unit. Dr. Nelson and Dr. E. R. Reay, chairman of the medical staff executive, attended the meeting yesterday, and their reports were considered in committee.
