TREASON TRIAL IN ALBANIA
16 SENTENCED TO DEATH
(Rec. 7 p.m.) BELGRADE, Sept. 28. A Court in Tirana sentenced .to death 16 Albanians charged with treason and with spying for a foreign Power. Eight others were also convicted. Four were sentenced to life imprisonment, three to 20 years’ imprisonment, and one to 15 years’ imprisonment. Three of those sentenced to death will be hanged. The others will be shot in public. The prosecutor alleged that the accused were in touch with Albanian war criminals in Italy, through the British and United States Legations in Tirana, with the aim of rallying in Albania all discontented elements and using them against the regime.
