LONDON WOOL SALES
STRONG COMPETITION FROM HOM 1? TRADE LONDON, Sept. 28. Offerings for this week’s London wool sales total 35,387 bales, comprising 11,551 from New Zealand, 20,160 from Australia; and 3690 from South Africa. Friday’s offerings totalled 19,738 bales, of which 19,153 bales were sold. New Zealand submitted 5410 bales and Australia 10,215. There was strong competition, especially from the home trade. Compared with the previous week, fine crossbreds were occasionally 5 per cent dearer, but faulty combings were 5 per cent, lower. Others were firmly maintained.
