RETIRING MININSTER ENTERTAINED
VERY REV. J. LAWSON ROBINSON The Very Rev. J. Lawson Robinson, who is retiring from the charge of St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and Mrs Robinson were the guests at a social given by the congregation last evening. For the members, Mr C. Ogilvie presented Mr Robinson with a cheque, and Mr McL. Taylor gave bim a b°°k from the Bible classes Mrs Robinson received a hand-bag from the women’s organisations of the church, the presentation being made by Mrs R. N. Ryburn. Mrs J. D. Boag gave her a shoulder spray. The speakers included the Rev. D. D. MacLachlan (Moderator of the Christchurch Presbytery). Archbishop West-Watson, the Rev. Raymond Dudley, .Messrs A. J. McEldowney, and Ogilvie. Mesdames Boag and Ryburn. The Rev. J. Baird was the chairman.
Items were given by Mr J. Wilson, Miss M. Ward (solos), Miss D. Clarke (recitation). Miss Ward and Mr W. Sharpe, and Mr and Mrs J. Wilson (duets).
