INTERIM “LITTLE ASSEMBLY ” (Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 26. The United States formally submitted to the United Nations to-day a resolution for establishing an interim “little assembly.” The resolution was circulated among members, and will be debated in the Political Committee. It provides for the establishment within 15 days of the ending of the present assembly, of a committee representing all members. The committee would have the following tasks:— (1) To consider situations arising under Article 14 of the Charter (under which the Assembly may recommend measures for the peaceful settlement of disputes likely to impair friendly relations). (2) To recommend to the Assembly general principles for the maintenance of international peace and security and to make recommendations fpr the promotion of international co-opera-tiqn. (3) To call special sessions of the Assembly. (4) To conduct investigations and appoint, commissions of inquiry. (5) To report to the*next Assembly on the possibility of making the committee permanent.
