APPEAL DISMISSED
SENTENCE ON JOCKEY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. The Court of Appeal heard an appeal against sentence on behalf of Aubrey Midwood, of Palmerston North, a jockey, who was sentenced' at the Napier sessions of the Supreme Court by Mr Justice Smith to four months’ imprisonment and cancellation of his driver’s licence far three years on conviction for failing to stop and render assistance after an accident. Counsel for the prisoner submitted that sentence should be reduced on the groupd that it was unduly severe in comparison with sentences for similar offences, and that cancellation of the licence would affect the appellant unfavourably in his employment as a jockey. The Court dismissed the appeal.
