AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
(P.A.) ROTORUA, September 26. The finals of the New Zealand amateur wrestling championships, which concluded to-night, included some of the brightest bouts witnessed since the war.
R. Herstich, of Wellington, won both the light heavy-weight and heavy-weigni titles, the heavy-weight with one arm practically useless. The new title-holders and runners-up are as follows: — Heavy-weight.—R. Herstich (Wellington), W. O’Conpor (West Coast, North Island).
Light Heavy-weight.—R. Herstich (Wellington). B. Walker (Auckland).
Middle-weight.—K. Mahoney (Wellington), P. Fletcher (Auckland). Welter-weight.—rJ. L. Genet (Canterbury), P. Monahan (Otago).
Light-weight.—W. Adams (Wellington) R. Jenkins (West Coast, North Island).
Feather-weight.—F. Genet (Canterbury), D. Mudgway (West Coast, North Island)
Bantam-weight.—R. Mudgway (West Coast, North Island); D. Astwood (Wellington).
