PROGRESS OF CHRISTCHURCH
Sir,—What has gone wrong with the Mayor? Why should a professional body be called all those names just because it is showing a progressive spirit and civic pride? In the original letter I did not see any attack o» the Mayor; and why he has felt so guilty I cannot understand. For progress in the city (which I take it referred to the city proper within the belts) the Mayor has to mention upkeep items and then goes first to the suburbs and later to the sand dunes to find any progress! Surely now is the time to make provision for any proposed schemes before the influx of commercial buildings begins and the compensation costs rise for any removals, etc. I hope the architects’ offer to assist in civic matters will be accepted, especially since it is realised that we uo need and want a town hall.— etc. PROGRESS.
