ACCIDENTS
TWO MINERS INJURED FALL OF STONE AT DOBSON MINE Two miners were injured, one of seriously when they were caught by a fall of stone at the Dobson State coal mine yesterday morning. They were John Patrick Magee, 23, married, of Threadneedle street. Greymouth,. and William Liddle Whitfield, 35, married, of Dobson. Magee suffered multiple injuries, which included a compound fracture of both bones of one leg, a multiple fracture of the other foot, fractured ribs, a fractured collarbone, and a probable fracture of the skull. His condition is serious. Whitfield suffered only a broken collarbone. Both were admitted to the Grey Hospital. The accident occurred about 9 o’clock, and- both men were caught under the fall of stone.
YOUNG WOMAN DROWNED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 27. When a motor-car driven by Ivan Devcich plunged into the Kauaeranga river, five miles from Thames to-night, a young woman was drowned. She was Miss Mary Lunjevich, aged 26, of Thames. The driver escaped uninjured. There were no other passengers.
