DAIRY PRODUCTS MARKETING

OFFICERS OF COMMISSION APPOINTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 27. The chairman of the Dairy Products -Marketing Commission (Mr W. Marshall) said this evening that the commission had taken up the matter of negotiations with the United Kingdom on the sale of butter and cheese for 1947-48. It had received a report from the New Zealand delegation in London, and the commission’s views were being communicated to the delegation. The commission had appointed Mr G. Pottinger, at present Acting-Direc-tor of Export Marketing, to be general manager of the commission, subject to the consent of the Public Service Commission. He would for the time being occupy both positions. Mr F. Lingapd, secretary of the Economic Stabilisation Commission, was appointed secretary subject to the Public Service Commission’s consent. It was decided that, subject to the consent of the Minister of Marketing (Mr E. L. Cullen),, until other arrangements could be made the Marketing Department would be appointed agent of the commission for the purchase and sale of butter and cheese for export and to regulate and -control the distribution of butter and cheese in New Zealand.
