DOLLAR MISSION TO U.S.
“OBJECTS ATTAINED”
SIR WILFRID EADY’S COMMENT
LONDON, August 25. Sir Wilfrid Eady who arrived in London form the dollar talks in Washington, said that the objects of his visit were attained. He denied suggestions that the Americans had not handled the problem with the greatest possible measure of goodwill and understanding. “We did the job we were sent to do, and we did the important one in the lime,” said Sir Wilfrid Eady. “The Americans met us frightfully well about that. We did two 18-hour days so as to get the convertibility decision settled.
“We also had some very valuable talks on Clause 9 of the loan agreement (which deals with import discrimination). It looks as though the Americans have helped us.”
