JUNIOR NATIONAL CUP PROTEST NO REPLY FROM N.Z. COUNCIL A letter from the Rangers Club expressing dissatisfaction with the New Zealand Council’s handling of the club’s protest in the South Island final of the junior national cup was received at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Football Association last evening. No definite ruling had been given and the club demanded that this be done.
"The matter has created a very bad impression not only among our own younger players, but also with many of the boys’ parents, who have watched their progress with interest,” said the letter. Lack uf definite action on the part of the New Zealand Council on such matters was definitely detrimental to the gi me
The Otago Football Association wrote that it had had no word that the competition was for players 18 years of age and under on January 1. The letter stated that the Mornington Club had all its players’ birth certificates, which proved they came under the required category. It was decided, on the recommendation of the junior management committee, to write to the New Zealand Council asking that the council return the money sent in by the association in connexion with the cup competition. Referees’ Chart Books The Railway Workshops Club's request for permission to play on English Park on Saturday, September 13, at 10.30 a.m„ was granted. The, secretary, Mr C. Sanderson, reported that no reply had been received from an urgent letter to the New Zealand Council asking if the referees’ chart books were copyright, and it was decided to write to the council again. Mr T. Gottermeyer said that the books had copyright marked op them, and that it would not be possible to print them m New Zealand. He understood there were about 20 dozen copies on the way to New Zealand. Mr R. S. Smith: The New Zealand Council should get permission to have copies printed in New Zealand. It would save importing them and thus save sterling funds.
