BECKENHAM BUS
Sir, Are the plausible promises of sympathetic consideration of our application for a bus service, given by the two board members at the overcrowded meeting on June 25, shelved indefiniteiy? Since then, another monthly statement has been issued. Mr Barr when questioned who was responsible for the Huntsbury bus answered frankly, "I was, and it would bring tears to your eyes had you seen, as I have, mothers pushing prams up that hill”; and, he continued, It pays ” Well, the last monthly statement of £2600 tram loss will certainly bring some tears tc our eyes when we know we have to foot the bill especially when we submitted a good' payable proposition. Could Mr Barr, in one of his sympathetic moods, spare’ a few tears for some of our elderly ladies who carried their children in the early days, and now carry heavy loads to and from the trams?—Yours etc.,
A A R- W. ROBSON. August 21, 1947. [Mr J. S. Barr had no comment to make when this letter was referred to him.]
