STATE ELECTRIC AUTHORITY
LORD CITRINE TO BE CHAIRMAN
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, August 21. The Minister of Fuel and Power (Mr E. Shinwell) has appointed Lord Citrine chairman of the British Electric Authority, which will control Britain’s nationalised electricity undertakings.
The deputy-chairmen will be Sir Henry Self, who is permanent secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Mr J. Hacking, who is chief engineer to the Central Electricity Board. Lord Citrine, commenting on his appointment, said the Central Authority would announce the methods by which it intended to carry on the industry when it was responsible for its administration. “All I can say is that everyone will be desirous of effecting the transfer to national ownership with as little friction as possibly” he added.
