FIRE IN MOTOR BODY FACTORY

HEAVY DAMAGE AT PETONE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 21. Fire gutted a section of the premises of New Zealand Motor Bodies. Ltd., Petone, to-day, causing heavy damage. The fire broke out about midday m the paint shop at the factory, situated at the corner of Jackson street and Hutt road. When the brigade arrived, the flames were bursting through the walls and the roof had caught alight. In a short time the fire was extinguished. Electrical installations were immediately repaired, and work was resumed in unaffected departments within an hour and a half of the outbreak. The paint shop and the trim shop. were badly damaged. The finishing department, located directly beneath the paint shop, was damaged by Water, and could not be used to-day.
