RANGI-RURU SCHOOL
RETIRING HEADMISTRESS ENTERTAINED
Members of the Board of Governors of Rangi-ruru Girls’ School met yesterday to bid farewell to Miss M. Farquharson, who has been headmistress of the school for about 14 months, and who will leave at the end of the term to be married. Tlie chairman of the board (the Rev. James Baird) said that although Miss Farquharson’s stay at the school had been brief, she had accomplished something of real merit in that time. The school had developed very well under her responsible leadership, and she had laid a good foundation for the life and work of the school on which her successor would be able to build soundly. Mr J. D. Hutchison, chairman of the appointments committee of the board, also spoke appreciatively of the work which Miss Farquharson had done for the school.
Dr. lan W. Fraser mentioned the educational progress which had recently been made by the school and the particular interest which Miss Farquharson had taken in the musical education of the pupils. Other speakers who paid tribute to Miss FarquharForrs tact and kindliness and the competent way in which she had handled <?ny difficulties which had arisen were Mrs W. Mackay, chairman of the house committee, and Mr W. A. C. McDonald. Miss Farquharson was presented with a nest of tables from members of the board. In .replying she thanked the members for the help and cooperation which she had received from them.
Presentations from the staff and P?. pil s of Rangi-ruru were made to Miss Farquharson earlier in the week.
