CHILD FLOWN TO 10,000 FEET
TREATMENT FOR WHOOPING COUGH
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 2. A three-year-old child was taken to 10,000 feet in an aircraft of the Auckland Aero Club yesterday as treatment for whooping cough. The child had been suffering severe spasms, and it was decided to try this method of treatment, which has had some success overseas.
Using a Whitney Straight aer6plane, the '•lub’s instructor (Mr R. Prentice) took the child up to the rarefied atmosphere, where they remained for 45 minutes. .They then descended slowly and steadily.
The child had only one spasm during the flight, and its condition was improved by last night.
