MEETING OF CANTERBURY DIVISION

CHAIRMAN RESIGNS AFTER LONG SERVICE

During the war years it had been difficult to make progress in the campaign against cancer, but the laboratory at Canterbury University College had'been able to maintain Its service throughout the Dominion in providing standard physical measurement for all X-ray and radium equipment, said the annual report of the Canterbury Division of the New Zealand branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society, presented to the annual meeting last evening. The laboratory committee, under the chairmanship of Professor F. C. Chalklin, saw to it that progress in the safeguard of X-ray and radium treatment was maintained and research continued.

The new laboratory at the Otago Medical School was expected to be ready for occupation next February, and the New Zealand branch had decided that the final decision on the appointment of a Director of Cancer Research.
