TWO WAGGONS DERAILED
TRAFFIC ON WEST COAST LINE DELAYED
Two waggons on a goods train travelling from Arthur's Pass to Christchurch on Monday evening were derailed between Avoca and Craigieburn, and train traffic in both directions was held up for some time. The waggons which left the line were an La type, which was carrying coal, and a bogie type, which was carrying timber. The accident occurred at 1030 p.m., and Lie rail-car from Christchurch to Hokitika was delayed at Avoca for about five hours. Other trains on the line were held at stations until the line was cleared. By 8.30 a.m. yesterday the waggons were retailed, and the track was clear. Soon after midday the timetable had been practically restored. A railway officer in Christchurch said yesterday that no information was then available about the cause of the accident or the extent of the damage to the waggons. He did not consider that the' damage would be extensive.
