STATEMENT BY AMERICAN OFFICER •

(Rec. 10 pjn.) WASHINGTON, July 27. Britain will make the results of rocket tests in Australia available to the United States Army, according to an officer of the American general staff. He said to-day that the United States and Britain had a long-range gentlemen’s agreement for the standardisation of arms under Which the two countries would have mutual access to the latest developments in guided missiles, jet-propelled aeroplanes, and other advanced weapons, including some phases of atomic bomb production. He added that the agreement did not mean that the British and American Armies would change overnight to the same type of guns, tanks, aircraft, and rockets, but the British were interested in gtantfardising such things a? tank parts, ammunition calibres, and truck parts in accordance with their America* counterparts.
