HIGHLAND PIPE BANDS’ ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Highland Pipe Bands’ Association of New Zealand was held this year in Christchurch. Mr I. D. Cameron presided. The election of officers resulted:— patron, Mr C. S. Thomas (Christchurch); president, Mr I. D. Cameron (Mauriceville); South Island vice-president, Mr Harold Johnston (Christchurch); North Island vice-president, Mr V. J Nicholson (Palmerston North); deputy-chairman. Mr R. Will (Christchurch); secretary and treasurer, Mr C. O. Genet (Christchurch); auditor, Mr G. Ley (Christchurch). The balance of the executive were appointed by each centre of the association, which number four in each island. It was decided that the next Dominion contest be held in Dunedin over Easter in 1948. It was further decided that the annual meetings of the executive would be held alternately in the North and South Islands. During the evening Mr Cameron presented the deputy-chairman, on behalf of Mr James Patterson and himself, a cup. to be known as the G. M. Telfer Memorial Cup, to be awarded to the bestconducted pipe band at the Dominion contest.
