WAIPOUA FOREST PROTECTION
SUPPORT OF RICCARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
Alarm at the proposal to clear part of the Waipoua kauri forest in North Auckland was expressed in a letter received by the Riccarton Borough Council last evening from the New Zealand Forest and Bird Protection Society. The society stated that the forest had been classed as one of New Zealand's greatest assets and in spite of assurances that it would be protected there were still suggestions that some cutting should be done. On the suggestion of the Mayor (Mr H. S S. Kyle) it was agreed to support the society in its efforts to ensure that the Waipoua forest was protected.
