POSITIONS AT MUSEUM
APPLICATIONS TO BE CALLED Applications for the position e of director of the Canterbury Museum will be called in New Zealand. Australia. and England at a salary of £BOO to £lOOO (New Zealand currency). according to qualifications, according to a decision of the Canterbury University College Council yesterday afternoon. It was agreed that the appointment should be made by the proposed museum trust board. Dr. Gilbert. Archey. Dr. W. R. B. Oliver, and Dr. R. A. Falla were appointed an advisory committee to assist in selection and Mr S. F. Markham to report on British applications. It was also decided to invite applications for the positions of scientific assistant in zoology at the museum at a salary of £5OO, rising to £600! and technical assistant at £3OO. A secre-tary-typist will also be engaged. Application will be made to the Education Department for an annual giant of £l5O to meet increased maintenance costs at the museum caused by accommodating visiting school classes. Dr, W. R. B. Oliver has accepted the position of temporary director of the museum as, from November 1.
