IMPROVEMENTS TO ESTUARY
Sir,—l see by “The Press” that there is talk of improvements to the Estuary. It is only since the rock wall has been built on to Cave Rock that the beach has altered so. If that wall was moved back 20 yards the winds would get the sand moving, and next would be the tides. The tide sweeping into Clifton Bay is what is wanted. This is the control point which would keep the mouth of the estuary open. The rock wall at Scarborough has given the tides the sweep which takes the sand with it.—Yours, etc. t SPRING’TIDE. July 26, 1947.
