SIX TOWNS’ MUSIC FESTIVAL
Sir, —The six towns’ festival arranged by the Civic Music Council was most enjoyable. A high standard was attained in much of the singing. It was noticeable how the choirs which sang in last year’s festival have improved and this year gave excellent renderings. Your critic, “C.F.8.,” in my opinion, was rather destructive in some of his criticisms. He expressed f.he hope that Ashburton would present better music next year. I thought their choice was good and very well sung. The criticism of the Rangiora Choir was completely destructive and unwarranted, and rather than this choir being “rough on Handel,” “C.F.8.” was rough on the Rangiora choir. I heartily congratulate all the choirs and hope they continue to give us these annual treats. —Yours, etc., MUSIC-LOVER. July 26, 1947.
