LYTTELTON NEWS

Sowden), was appointed by the Lyttelton Borough Council last evening to wait on Mr T. H. McCombs, M.P., to ask for a Government subsidy towards the cost of a new town clock. Cr. Heal said that it was because of the Government department that the old clock had been dismantled, and they should endeavour to get Government assistance in providing a new one. Thompson). the assistant town clerk and the borough overseer (Mr H. G. Ablett), asking for some consideration of their attendance at late council meetings, the council decided to revert to fortnightly meetings, meetings to end at 10 p.m. It was decided to divide the committee reports between the two meetings each month.
