U.S. MISSION TO CHINA

SCOPE OF INQUIRIES (Rec. 10 p.m.) NEW YORK. July 26. The leader of the United States mission to China (Lieutenant-General Albert Wedemeyer) will confei* with Chinese Liberals and with prominent non-Kuomintang spokesmen, says the Nanking correspondent of the “New York Times.” He will not make any effort to open conversations with the Chinese Communists, but it is said that General Wedemeyer and his aides will be available to any qualified Communist spokesmen who may wish to confer with them. This is designed to obviate any criticism that the fact-finding group is getting all its information from interested Chinese Governmental sources, and to increase the scope of the group’s inquiries.
