RELEASE OF MOTOR-CYCLES
Sir, —Some nine months ago the Army released through “War Assets” ’OOO or so Indian motor-cycles for former servicemen. While some just used this privilege as a “get-rich-quick” method, quite a number of us have found them really essential for cur rehabilitation. My real grouch is that after all this time the War Assets Realisation Board has not seen fit to release any spares for these machines. A letter to the board draws forth the comment “that a complete range of tpares is available and will be released shortly”—of course that was only six months ago. Can anybody really give me any information as to where and when spares will be procurable for these machines?—Yours, etc., EX-ARMY. Greymouth, July 16, 1947. [Brigadier H. E. Avery, general manager of the War Assets Realisation Board, to whom this letter was referred, said: “Unfortunately, there has been some delay in reaching finality regarding the release of the Indian motor-cycle parts. Tenders are. however, now being called for the whole range, and the necessary parts will be available to users in the course of a few weeks.”]
